After the calm and the serenity of the Denny Abbey Kitchen garden from last weeks image we move to Cambridge's version of a busy rush hour. This was taken on the same day as another image from a blog entry back last year called River Cam Rush Hour and is very similar in style and content.
On a warm summers day last year, when the city was seemingly bursting at the seams with visitors and people enjoying the sun - I spent almost four hours standing on a bridge over the River Cam, watching the world and its people go by. So many colours, so much vibrance and so many people enjoying themselves in the sunlight.
Although fairly wide, the River Cam can easily become congested as hordes ofpeople decide to take to the water and this day was no different. Queues form on the bank as people (mostly) patiently wait for their literal boat to come in. Every once and a while you'd get several punts all vying for the same patch of water and this what this weeks photo is all about. Punt loads of students or tourists, some looking happy and some (perhaps only in that moment) looking just plain bored! I love the various emotions on each "punters" face as they try and navigate their way down and sometimes across the water!
I decided to apply an HDR effect filter to the image using Lightroom.
