Another historical Cambridge image this week and a view which probably adorns more postcards and paintings of the city than any other (maybe the River Cam as well perhaps). This was never a planned image nor was it part of a photoshoot in the city. In reality I was actually driving past the "Backs" (the nickname for the green area behind the Cambridge colleges) one lunchtime on my way to a work meeting and notices the superb sunlight that had cast itself over the college and the tress in front of it. I pulled over and using my other favourite "camera" my trusty iPhone I took several photos and this was the best one. I love how the shadow of the tree at the front of the image seem to lead you into the show and the sunlight on the buildings in the foreground (the reason why I pulled over in the first place).
What are peoples thoughts on using a smartphone as a photography device? I've seen some amazing images taken with a simple mobile phone but what do you think they will eventually take images as good as the ones you can take with a DSLR camera?
