Kings College Chapel. One of Cambridge's more popular attractions. It is also one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. I too have stood in one of several positions across from the famous chapel spires and taken the classic shot that you see on so many postcards (and I'm sure I will post one in the future!) This picture (and in fact the one below) shows a slightly different viewpoint. This was taken early on a chilly September morning (a lot of my photos are taken before 9.00 in the morning) just as the sun was rising. The sunlight under-exposed the spires and initially I thought it was leading to another ruined photo. When I got home however and looked through them I was struck by how the chapel had been transformed into a striking silhouette.
I used Lightroom to darken the building and also bring out the colours of the dawn sky.
I also noticed a couple of birds on the photo and was originally going to remove them but I felt they gave the image some life and some movement so I left them in.
Both taken with a Canon600d with a Canon EF-S 18-200mm lens / iso400 / F11
