Kings college Chapel Through The Looking Glass

 kings college chapel in cambridge

I've been wanting to try this for a while. Using a glass sphere and shooting a location through it. I finally got a chance to have a try and couple of days ago Saturday morning just gone to be exact and a very cold and early (for a weekend) start. It was around seven thirty that I positioned myself in front of Kings College Chapel, wishing as I've done many times before that I'd bought a pair of gloves with me! I soon realised I'd also forgotten a spare battery and my tripod (how to do you forget a tripod).

As photo shoots go, this was a game of two halves. One the one side the shots I took of Kings College from the bridge in front were very successful and I've already sold several copies on the photo store. My first attempt shooting into the sphere, however - let's call it a good first try.

My trusty Canon camera was the first issue. For some reason, I couldn't get it to focus on the subject reflection in the sphere. I resorted instead to using my Iphone which managed to focus on the tiny reproduction of Kings College in the glass but even that wasn't easy. Trying to balance the phone in one hand and the sphere in the other and trying to press the shutter button on the touchscreen, (if only I'd bought my tripod with me).......

A Christmas money off voucher to the first person who leaves a comment with the deliberate (?) mistake in the picture........
