Row Of Barges

row of barges on the river cam in Cambridge

Not everyone in Cambridge lives in Georgian period homes or modern housing estates, (more and more of which seem to be being built each week). Equally, the River Cam isn't just used by punters, canoes, occasional swimmers and sometimes grumpy swans.

Remind me one day to tell the story of the Swan on the River Cam that was issued with an antisocial behaviour order....

A small percentage of the Cambridge population call the River Cam home and this week shows one of those "floating housing estates." A row of barges moored up alongside the river bank. This was taken early on Sunday morning and you can see the smoke coming from the barge in the far distance. Although you can't tell from the photo, I can confirm that getting closer, there was the unmistakable smell of bacon in the air.

That smell lingered with me for the rest of the walk along the Cam - only seeming to end when I could resist the urge no longer and headed to the nearest breakfast serving cafe.

Taken with a Canon 70D DSLR Camera and Sigma 18-250 Lens.
