The phone box. The red phone box to be more specific. Could anything be more iconic of Great Britain! Cambridge has several of these historical remnants - some of them are still working phone boxes while others have long since been decommissioned, (I believe that one of them even offers free Wi-Fi)! This particular row of phone boxes is located right in the heart of Cambridge and judging by the number of photographs I've seen online of them they appear to be a very popular photographic focal point!
This set of photos was taken during my Christmas break at the end of 2014. It was a really cloudy and dull day and the still gleaming bright red metal just seemed to stand out from everything else around them.
The black and white with a hint of colour photo style can be an acquired taste, but when used with the right subject matter I think it can really allow specific details to really jump out of the image. I felt that the phone boxes and their colour really suited this perferectly. This was one of the first few times that I tried this and it required a bit of trial and error with Lightroom!
