I've only tried punting once and it didn't go well. I didn't fall in, (the positive) but I did end up losing grip of the punting pole in the River Cam mud - resulting in us and the pole parting company. We gracefully floated off down the Cam and the pole remained proudly purtruding out of the water for the rest of the world to see.
I haven't tried punting since.
These guys probably don't lose control of their punts that often....
The guys in question are a handful of the offical Cambridge punters (is there an offical word to describe this role?) waiting in the sun for their next party of expectant tourists.
