This will be my last HDR image for a while. After several weeks of HDR overindulgence its time for something different. This particular image was one of those which nearly ended up on the cutting room floor. The initial photo was taken at the end of a morning ambling around the city. I was returning to my car and noticed the couple heading down the street in front of me. As I stood there, the sunlight (which up to that point had been hidden behind the clouds overhead) suddenly broke through and bathed them in sunlight,; creating a wonderful, almost angelic outline around them. At the same moment some droplets of water started to rain down (excuse the pun) from the scaffolding next them. I took several shots at the time but when I got home none of them really excited me. They appeared flat and lifeless and the droplets looked more like artefacts than water I initially decided to discard them.
It was only after i started playing with the HDR photo style that I began to revisit some of my previous work to see if the HDR treatment would bring anything new out of them. This photo was one of those. I make no excuses for the fact that this photo would not be as striking or exciting if it wasn't for the HDR effect. Either way, I still like it, I love the abstract and almost spiritual nature of the image - like the figures are walking into the some mystical light. I also played with some of the colour and sharpness levels and shadows as well as applying the HDR effect in Lightroom.
